Best described as a "modern Renaissance woman," Corina Kwami is global singer and dancer. Born in New Jersey, USA, she grew up in the suburbs of the Big Apple in a big Ghanaian and Irish-background family! Her musical interests reflect the music of her upbringing from stride piano to West African high-life, Irish folk music to disco and soul. Having lived in over 10 countries, creating connection through performance in music and dance is a constant feature of Corina's inspiration. In creating connection in music and dances, she curate performances with the purpose of blending cultures, much like genres, such as jazz, have done for decades. As a singer and tap dancer, she is most motivated by the story-telling power of jazz and its potential for connecting people across national borders.
In this evening's gig, Corina will showcase the stylings of jazz and swing with her quartet "The Swing Selection" with social dance songs popularised from the 1930s and 1940s! Dancers and future dancers of all genres welcome!
